History of Havaianas Flip-Flops: Created in 1962 and widely considered one of the most comfortable rubber flip-flops in the world, Havaianas sandals are made in Brazil using a secret rubber formula. The sandals were inspired by a style of Japanese sandal called the "Zori," and the name "Havaianas" (Portuguese for "Hawaiians") was used in homage to one of America's favorite holiday destinations.
