Today is Barbie Millicent Roberts 50th Birthday! Haven't we all had a Barbie Doll? My sisters and I used to make clothes for our Barbie Dolls. We had a tiny sewing machine and would take apart the clothes that came with the doll so we could use them as a pattern. Looking back, we made some pretty awesome outfits.
Unfortunately, we also had a Beagle who had a thing for the Barbies, and would chew them into misshaped lumps of plastic, leaving only the heads in tact. Since we only had the heads left, we then practiced our hairstyling skills.
We all learned a lot from Barbie. We learned that we could be an astronaut, a farmer, a chef, or a fashionista. We learned how to apply makeup and, most importantly, how to properly accessorize any outfit!
So Happy Birthday Babs! I wish you many more happy years.
